RESUMO

Objective: This study investigated the efficacy of telerehabilitation (TR) in school-based Occupational Therapy (OT) for children with Specific Learning Disorder (SLD), focusing on occupational competence and parental satisfaction, aiming to contribute empirical insights to the discourse on the educational well-being of this population. Materials & Methods: The study adopted a Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) design involving 31 children diagnosed with SLD, implementing TR and in-person interventions alongside a control group. Outcome measures included the School Self-Concept Inventory, Child Occupational Self-Assessment (COSA), and Canadian Occupational Performance Measurement (COMP), analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics (ANOVA, post hoc tests). Results: Both TR and in-person interventions exhibited significant enhancements in academic self-efficacy (F=23.96, p<0.001, Partial ȵ²=0.461), occupational competence (F=70.59, p<0.001, Partial ȵ²=0.716), and parent satisfaction (F=17.03, p<0.001, Partial ȵ²=0.378) compared to the control group. Notably, no significant differences emerged between the TR and in-person groups, emphasizing their comparable effectiveness in improving outcomes. Conclusion: In conclusion, the study demonstrated the efficacy of TR and in-person interventions in school-based OT for children with SLD. The cohesive outcomes in academic self-efficacy, occupational competence, and parental satisfaction highlight TR as a versatile modality. This research, grounded in robust methodology, encourages further exploration of TR's transformative role in enhancing the holistic well-being of children with SLDs.

INTRODUCTION: The Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) was implemented at a state-wide burns service to ensure compliance with current best evidence as outlined by the Australian and New Zealand Burns Association 'burn trauma rehabilitation: allied health practice guidelines'- Chapter 7 Measuring Post-Burn Recovery, as a standard outcome measure for individuals with an admission time greater than 24 h. The primary aim of this study is to determine if individuals have a minimal important change in performance and satisfaction with activities that were identified as problematic on the COPM prior to their acute discharge. Previous research confirmed the feasibility of using the COPM in the acute burn ward and recommended the most appropriate timepoint for re-measurement be confirmed, which is the secondary objective of this study. The benefits of confirming this timepoint include ensuring efficient use of clinicians' time without compromising the accuracy of the assessment and ensuring effective translation of the guidelines' recommendation. METHODS: A prospective longitudinal study was undertaken, where all individuals who previously completed a COPM prior to acute discharge were sought to complete a re-assessment while accessing outpatient services. Time frames for re-assessment were open. Only individuals who were actively receiving occupational therapy outpatient services were included. COPM assessments were completed in person where possible, particularly for participants who required an interpreter, with phone and video calls also used when needed. RESULTS: A total of 37 participants were included, with the timeframe between initial and post-COPM assessment ranging from 2 to 643 days. Outcomes plateaued at approximately 12 months (365 days) post-initial measurement (prior to discharge from acute ward). The most common occupational performance goals that participants identified were returning to work, sport, and driving. 86.5% of participants increased their satisfaction with these activities. The results of this study demonstrate improvements across the domains of performance and satisfaction occur for individuals with burns at approximately 3 months and 12 months post-injury. CONCLUSION: Based on this study, it is suggested that when using the COPM assessment in a tertiary burn setting, re-measurement be completed no earlier than 3 months and later than 12 months from burn injury, or upon discharge from the service. The findings from this study will be translated into clinical practice at this facility.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the implementation of a self-management program, My Therapy, designed to increase inpatient rehabilitation therapy dosage via independent practice. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A process evaluation of My Therapy for adult patients admitted for rehabilitation for any condition supervised by physiotherapists and occupational therapists across eight rehabilitation wards compared usual care. Outcomes included reach, dosage, fidelity and adaptation. RESULTS: The mean (SD) age of the process evaluation sample (n = 123) was 73 (11) years with a mean (SD) length of stay of 14.0 (6.6) days. The My Therapy program reached 68% of participants (n = 632/928), and resulted in an average increase in therapy dosage of 26 (95% CI 12 to 40) minutes/day of independent practice. All My Therapy audited programs (n = 28) included body function/structure impairment-based exercises, and half (n = 13/28) included activity/participation-based exercises. On average, participants completed programs 1.8 (SD 1.2) times/day, which were prescribed in accordance with the My Therapy criteria, demonstrating fidelity. There were no between-group differences in daily steps or standing time, however, My Therapy participants spent more time sitting (p ≤ 0.05). Implementation adaptations were minimal. CONCLUSION: A self-management rehabilitation program was implemented with fidelity for two in three rehabilitation patients, resulting in increased therapy dosage with minimal adaptations.


The My Therapy self-management program was implemented with good reach (68% of participants received My Therapy) across four public and private inpatient rehabilitation services.Under My Therapy conditions, the dosage of inpatient rehabilitation therapy participation increased by an average of 26 minutes per day, which will help close the evidence-practice gap between the current rehabilitation dosage of about 1-hour per day, and the recommended rehabilitation dosage of 3-hours per day.My Therapy programs most frequently included impairment-based exercises that were completed in sitting, and did not increase time spent standing and walking.Consideration should be given to prescribing My Therapy (content and dosage) at an optimal level to promote patient functional independence, while maintaining safety.

Background/Objective: Alzheimer's disease is a condition that can cause memory, thinking, and behaviour impairments. This type of dementia affects approximately 50 million people globally. Currently, there is no remedy for this disease, but there are different treatment approaches, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological, that try to alleviate the symptoms. The remarkable fact about Alzheimer's response to music is that musical abilities can be preserved even though language could be lost. The objective of this systematic review is to assess the benefits of music therapy on cognitive impairments in older adults with Alzheimer's disease. Methods: This is a systematic review carried out following the PRISMA guidelines. The literature searches were conducted in the following databases: PubMed, SCOPUS, Cochrane Library, and Dialnet. The inclusion criteria established were as follows: randomised controlled studies and clinical trials published in English and Spanish from 2010 to 2024, patients diagnosed with dementia of the Alzheimer's type, aged 65 years or older, who had participated in music interventions and had cognitive changes. Results: Eleven studies were included in this review. They showed that music therapy interventions mainly improved memory, language, and orientation. The results of a methodological quality analysis showed that six of the articles had good methodological quality and four had excellent methodological quality. Conclusions: The results of this review suggest that treatment with music therapy improves cognitive impairments in patients with Alzheimer's disease. In addition, we can be sure that music creates a link between the patient and the specialist.

Background: In literature there is a lack of specific evaluation tools for behavior in intellectual disabilities in general and during an activity, this is one of the most important field of the Occupational Therapy intervention. Objective: Authors developed an Italian version of the Occupational Therapy Task Observation Scale (OTTOS) and an Italian version of the Comprehensive Occupational Therapy Evaluation Scale (COTES) and examined their reliability and validity. Methods: The original scales were translated from English to Italian using the "Translation and Cultural Adaptation of Patient Reported Outcomes Measures-Principles of Good Practice" guidelines. Both scales were administered to adults with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities. People under eighteen years, with severe and profound intellectual disabilities and deaf people were excluded from the study. Their reliability and validity have been examined. Relia-bility was analyzed via internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha) and stability (intra/inter-rater coefficient), while validity was investigated via construct validity (p-value) and criterion validity using Pearson's correlation coefficients between them and with the Mini Mental State Examination and the Barthel Index Scale. Results: The OTTOS and the COTES were administered to 30 subjects. Cronbach's α for the COTES was 0,91 and Cronbach's α for the OTTOS was 0,92. Regarding the criterion of validity, the two scales have numerous statistically positive correlations, particularly with the Mini Mental State Examination in the Orientation and total part. Furthermore, the correlation with the Barthel scale is present in the total scores, the COTES's third subscale, and the OTTOS's first. Conclusions: The OTTOS and the COTES were reliable and valid outcome measures for assessing behavior in the Italian population.

The main objective of this protocol is to understand the effectiveness of the use of a mobile application (OcupApp) to generate a personal self-analysis about meaningful activities in a population of adults aged between 50 and 70 years with low or moderate depression/anxiety. A randomised study will be carried out comparing the effects of the use of the OcupApp application with a control intervention on health-related quality of life, mental health, frequency of participation on meaningful activities, and perceived occupational balance. This is the first study to use occupational self-analysis in m-health to improve occupational balance, mental health, frequency of participation in meaningful activities and health-related quality of life. The app was co-created with a population whose characteristics are similar to those of the target users, and it was tested in both the intervention itself and the presentation, thus it is expected to be effective.Trial Registration Number: Clinical Trial B1-2020_25.

Objective: Children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) are often referred to Equine-Assisted Services (EAS) for therapy despite lack of validated protocols in the field. This paper reports the development and validation of ASTride (ADHD Skills Therapy): a protocol of Equine-Assisted Occupational Therapy (EAOT) intervention for children aged 6-12 with ADHD. The intervention addresses deficits in cognitive-emotional functions and participation. Method: Phase one of the intervention development includes theoretical framework and core content based on an in-depth review of existing literature. Subsequently, the intervention protocol was revised by a panel of experts. Phase two includes a pilot study, during which five children diagnosed with ADHD (mean age= 10.40 year, SD 2.966) participated in a 12-week EAOT intervention according to the suggested protocol, with pre- and post-assessments conducted. Results: Statistically significant improvements were found in executive functions, as reflected in the Behavioral Regulation Index (BRI) total score. Additionally, hope perception and everyday performance improved following the intervention. Conclusions: Results support the feasibility of ASTride intervention protocol for the improvement of cognitive and emotional functions as well as everyday performance.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: A Health and Disabilities Interprofessional Education (IPE) course was implemented to join three healthcare disciplines together to collaboratively plan, implement, and reflect on professional roles and responsibilities. The goal and purpose of this course was to create an advancement of interprofessional education and practice within health science professions early in their students' programs utilizing innovative teaching methods working directly with individuals with disabilities. EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY AND SETTING: 72 students were assigned to interprofessional teams of 10-11 people. Through asynchronous and synchronous learning activities, student teams worked together to plan and conduct community-based client interviews. FINDINGS: Quantitative and qualitative evaluation methods were used to explore the impact of interprofessional experiential learning experiences. Qualitative data showed a greater awareness and understanding of the different roles and responsibilities in interprofessional teams as well as a greater appreciation for the value of interacting with persons with disabilities (PWD) during their training. Quantitative data showed a significant change in students' understanding of their roles and responsibilities as a member of an interprofessional team, their confidence with working with PWD in a future healthcare capacity, as well as their understanding of how the social determinants of health may influence the healthcare experience of a PWD. SUMMARY: Interprofessional education and experiential learning opportunities are good ways to facilitate "real" patient care experiences and team roles and responsibilities. This enables healthcare students to practice communication, build relationships, and understand the lived experience of their patients.

Although occupational therapists engage as part of interprofessional healthcare teams, explicit investigation into their experiences of interprofessional collaborative practice (IPCP) has not been explored. This study evaluated occupational therapists in the United States experiences of IPCP with additional inquiry into which healthcare professionals occupational therapy practitioners interact with and how they engage in collaboration, during IPCP. An exploratory cross-sectional study was conducted using an online survey; 142 occupational therapy practitioners responded. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive and bivariate analyses; open-ended responses underwent consensual qualitative analysis. Participants reported most often engaging in IPCP with physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, nurses, physicians, and case managers, although variations in the top five professions were evident between practice settings. In addition, 82% of the respondents reported either feeling prepared or very prepared for IPCP after completing their pre-licensed educational programs. Two qualitative themes have emerged to describe key education-oriented and practice-oriented interprofessional experiences. To further enhance engagement in and preparedness for IPCP, occupational therapy professionals, and students may benefit from interprofessional training that involves the professions most often encountered during clinical practice. This type of learning could foster an understanding of communication and teamwork, thus enhancing readiness to participate in the IPCP team upon transition to practice.

PURPOSE: Self-awareness is a multifaceted phenomenon that comprises two main concepts: general awareness and online awareness. The latter is an emerging concept that requires further consensus on its definition. The aim of this paper is to define the key components of online awareness and identify approaches for measuring this concept for adults with neurological conditions. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Concept analysis using Rodgers' evolutionary method was used to systematically review and summarise relevant literature. Papers were included if they provided a definition of online awareness or method for assessing online awareness for an adult neurological population. RESULTS: Fifty-six papers were included in this review, with 21 online awareness assessment approaches identified. Online awareness was described to occur within the context of task performance, with the definition framework comprising four main aspects: 1/appraisal; 2/anticipation and prediction; 3/monitoring; and 4/self-evaluation. Self-regulation is a related concept that is considered to sit outside the conceptual boundaries of online awareness. CONCLUSIONS: The findings of this analysis highlight the complexity of online awareness and its importance in rehabilitation. Psychometrically robust measures of online awareness that are inclusive of the essential elements of this concept are needed to advance practice in this area.


Online awareness or awareness of performance within the context of an activity should be included in the comprehensive assessment of self-awareness for individuals with neurological conditions.Online awareness is a task-specific phenomenon that is activated in the context of task performance, and requires assessment across a range of tasks and environments.When assessing online awareness, careful consideration is required when selecting tasks to ensure they have the right level of challenge to elicit the need to monitor performance.The heterogeneity of existing online awareness assessments highlights the need to interpret outcomes with caution.Future efforts should be directed towards development of an online awareness assessment that includes key attributes of this concept.

BACKGROUND: Role-emerging settings - those where occupational therapy (OT) services have not traditionally been provided - are common sites for practice placements of entry-level occupational therapy students. A growing body of literature has attempted to determine the value and drawbacks of such practice placements on the professional preparedness of OT students with mixed findings. Benefits have been identified, including increased cultural understanding, advocacy, creativity, initiative, and problem-solving skills. However, OT students have been reported to perceive such placement as limiting their professional growth and preparedness to practice compared to traditional placements. METHODS: A phenomenological study was conducted seeking the perceptions of OT students (n = 14) about their clinical placement at a role-emerging site. Recorded semi-structured interviews were conducted by trained interviewers within two weeks of the end of clinical placement. The recordings were transcribed verbatim and then coded using an iterative multi-coder inductive approach. Inter-coder agreement, reflectivity, and audit trail were maintained. RESULTS: Three themes emerged from the analysis: (1) integrating independence and support, (2) becoming occupational therapists, and (3) filling a gap. These themes reflect students' positive perceptions of their role-emerging clinical placement. They felt that this placement allowed them to develop self-confidence and professional identity as occupational therapists and learn new skills while simultaneously filling a gap in services for clients. Most importantly, they felt that this placement prepared them for their future OT practice. CONCLUSION: This finding and their resounding support of the experience suggest that OT students can perceive role-emerging placement as a solid foundation for clinical practice. Factors, included in this placement, that may have contributed to their experience include the level of support provided, time available for learning including space to make mistakes, and freedom from productivity and payor requirements.

BACKGROUND: This scoping review aimed to identify the barriers, facilitators and benefits of returning to work following burn injury, outcome measures used, management strategies, and models of care. OBJECTIVE: To provide a comprehensive overview about working-aged adults returning to their preinjury employment after burn injury. METHODS: We followed a pre-determined scoping review protocol to search MEDLINE, CINAHL, Embase, PsycINFO, PubMed, Scopus, CCRCT and CDSR databases between 2000 to December 2023. Papers reporting primary data from previously employed adults with cutaneous burn injuries were included. RESULTS: In all, 90 articles met the review criteria. Return-to-work was both an outcome goal and process of recovery from burn injury. Physical and psychological impairments were identified barriers. Job accommodations and modifications were important for supporting the transition from hospital to workplace. Employment status and quality of life sub-scales were used to measure return-to-work. CONCLUSIONS: Consistent definitions of work and measurements of return-to-employment after burn injury are priorities for future research. Longitudinal studies are more likely to capture the complexity of the return-to-employment process, its impact on work participation and changes in employment over time. The social context of work may assist or hinder return-to-work more than physical environmental constraints. Equitable vocational support systems would help address disparities in vocational rehabilitation services available after burn injury.

Purpose: This study aimed to identify determinants influencing the utilization of early intervention services among young children with sickle cell disease (SCD) based on perspectives from medical and early intervention providers. Design and methods: Early intervention and medical providers from the catchment area surrounding St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Washington University were recruited (20 total providers). Interviews were completed over the phone and audio recorded. All interviews were transcribed verbatim, coded, and analyzed using inductive thematic analysis. Results: Three overarching themes were identified from both groups: Awareness (e.g., lack of awareness about the EI system and SCD), Access (e.g., difficulties accessing services), and Communication (e.g., limited communication between medical and early intervention providers, and between providers and families). Although these three themes were shared by medical and early intervention providers, the differing perspectives of each produced subthemes unique to the two professional fields. Conclusions: Early intervention services can limit the neurodevelopmental deficits experienced by young children with SCD; however, most children with SCD do not receive these services. The perspectives of early intervention and medical providers highlight several potential solutions to increase early intervention utilization among young children with SCD.

Background: Low adherence to non-pharmacological interventions can impact treatment effectiveness. Yet, there is limited information on adherence barriers and facilitators to non-pharmacological interventions in Parkinson's disease (PD). Objective: 1) To examine the quality of adherence reporting and 2) to identify key determinants of adherence to PD non-pharmacological interventions. Methods: A rapid evidence assessment was conducted, following PRISMA guidelines, that included controlled studies of exercise, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech-language therapy with explicit reporting of 'adherence' OR 'compliance', published in the last 15 years. Data extracted included: adherence rates, adherence outcomes, and factors associated with adherence. A collaborative thematic analysis was conducted to identify determinants of adherence. Results: The search yielded 2,445 articles of which 114 met criteria for full screening with 45 studies meeting all inclusion criteria. High quality adherence data that aligned with the intervention goals were reported by 22.22%(N = 10) of studies, with the majority reporting attendance/attrition rates only 51.11%(N = 23). Four major themes (34 subthemes) emerged: disease and health, personal, program design, and system and environmental. Conclusions: There has been limited progress in the quality of adherence reporting in PD non-pharmacological interventions over the last decade. Acknowledging this limitation, key determinants of adherence included: alignment with personal beliefs, attitudes, and expectations; the demands of the intervention and worsening disease symptoms and personal/time obligations; and accessibility and safety concerns. Program design elements found to facilitate adherence included: opportunities for social engagement and in-person offerings linked to higher levels of interventionist support, performative feedback, and social reinforcement.

Introduction: In the acute phase after a spinal cord injury or disease (SCI/D), various therapeutic assessments and interventions are applied with the goal of restoring structures, preventing complications and preparing the patient as best as possible for further activity and finally participation. The goal was to identify and evaluate the available evidence on assessments and interventions for body functions and structures to prepare adults with acute spinal cord SCI/D for activity and participation during the first 14 days. Methods: A scoping review was conducted. The search was performed on June 19, 2023 using the databases PubMed, PEDro, Cochrane library and Embase. These were screened for studies including patients with acute SCI/D and physiotherapeutic or occupational therapy assessments and interventions. Only studies in English or German published between 2012 and 2023 were included. Results: Twelve publications met the inclusion criteria, namely three systematic reviews, two randomized controlled trials, two observational studies and five clinical practice guidelines. Assessments as the Spinal Cord Independence Measure, as well as exercises such as daily passive mobilization of body structures against contractures were used in the entire population, while others were only applied in subgroups of SCI/D such as the Graded Redefined Assessment of Strength, Sensation and Prehension or functional electrical stimulation with and without additional movements. The methodological quality of the studies found varied greatly from good to very poor. Discussion: Heterogeneity in research design and study population as well as lack of high-quality studies do not cover the standard of clinical management in the acute phase and further comprehensive research is needed.

BACKGROUND: Stroke survivors are one of the largest consumer groups of rehabilitation services. Despite improvement in daily activities while in inpatient rehabilitation, many have difficulty performing daily activities at home after discharge. The difference in performance between a standard clinical context and at home is poorly understood. OBJECTIVE: To better understand differences in activity performance during transition from inpatient rehabilitation facility (IRF) to home, we examined daily activity performance scores from 2 different environments (IRF and home) at the same time point (discharge). METHODS: This was a cross-sectional analysis using baseline data from a randomized controlled trial. Participants were stroke survivors aged ≥50 who planned to discharge home from the IRF. The Functional Independence Measure and Section GG codes (both converted to International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health scores) were conducted per protocol first at home and then in the IRF at discharge (≤3 days apart, order not randomized). RESULTS: Among 57 participants, activity scores at home were significantly worse than scores at IRF discharge. Over 40% of participants had discharge scores indicating no-to-mild impairment for shower/tub transfer, walking, and going up/down stairs, while home visit scores indicated moderate-to-complete impairment for those activities. The greatest differences in scores were for shower/tub transfer (median difference 1.5, 95% CI 1.00-2.00) and going up/down stairs (median difference 1.50, 95% CI 1.00-2.00). CONCLUSION: The environment plays an important role in stroke survivors' functioning at home. Future studies should further examine how the environment impacts activity performance upon returning home following stroke.

BACKGROUND: Self-awareness impairment is common following acquired brain injury and can impact rehabilitation outcomes. Knowledge of factors associated with impaired self-awareness may assist with rehabilitation planning. OBJECTIVES: To identify factors associated with self-awareness and determine predictors of self-awareness impairment for adults with traumatic brain injury (TBI) and stroke. DESIGN AND METHODS: A retrospective cohort study of rehabilitation inpatients was conducted by medical record audit. Self-awareness was measured using the Self-awareness of Deficits Interview (SADI). Relationships between SADI scores and demographic and clinical variables were identified with non-parametric statistics. Predictors of SADI scores were identified using ordinal regression analyses for TBI and stroke groups. RESULTS: Participants were 149 adults (18-70 years) with TBI (n = 110) and stroke (n = 39). For TBI, longer post-traumatic amnesia (PTA), lower functional cognition/communication, and behaviors of concern (BoC) were significantly associated with higher SADI scores (i.e. impaired self-awareness). For stroke, lower functional cognition/communication and motor scores were associated with higher SADI scores. Impaired self-awareness was predicted by PTA duration, acute length of stay and presence of BoC for the TBI group, and by functional cognition/communication for the stroke group. CONCLUSION: Different factors were associated with impaired self-awareness for individuals with TBI and stroke during inpatient rehabilitation.

Late-onset psychosis refers to the development of psychotic symptoms after the age of 40 and can encompass various conditions like schizophrenia, mood disorders with psychotic features, and delusional disorder. Non-pharmacological interventions are critically important in older adults with psychosis, especially considering the lack of evidence for the efficacy of antipsychotics and the high risk of side effects. Social isolation is recognized as one of the risks of late-onset psychosis, and interventions to eliminate this risk are becoming increasingly important in Japan, where social isolation among older people is widespread as society ages. We present a case of late-onset delusional disorder in which multidimensional interventions for social isolation and loneliness, which have significant impacts on symptoms, were effective in achieving persistent remission. The case involved a woman in her mid-70s who began to complain of paranoia that taking a painkiller recommended by her husband caused persistent pain. Her husband's hospitalization and the deterioration of her relationship with her children resulted in her becoming socially isolated, which intensified her delusions and led to aggressive behavior and depression. Although antipsychotic medications had a limited effect, remission was achieved through supportive psychotherapy, cognitive therapy, family education, participation in group occupational therapy, and the introduction of daycare services, which were implemented to reduce loneliness and social isolation. Specifically, supportive psychotherapy and family education for her loneliness, awareness of another possible cause of pain that she developed through Socratic questioning, and environmental adjustments played important roles in preparing her to accept cognitive therapy, achieve delusional remission, and maintain her state of remission, respectively. The interventions implemented in this case provide insights for addressing social isolation and loneliness in late-onset psychosis.

INTRODUCTION: While Singapore is rapidly ageing and the need for palliative care services is projected to rise, there has been limited exploration of the occupations of Chinese older adults with life-limiting conditions. This study is the third in a series of three studies aimed to address this issue. This study also sought to discuss future directions for occupational therapy practice with Chinese older adults living with life-limiting illnesses in Singapore. METHOD: The study adopted a qualitative exploratory design using focus groups. Participants were recruited using convenience and snowball sampling. Inclusion criteria were occupational therapists who had attained full registration status with the Allied Health Professionals Council in Singapore, had two or more years of practice as an occupational therapist, and had a current or recent palliative care caseload. FINDINGS: Three focus groups with 16 participants were conducted, and three themes were constructed from the data through reflexive thematic analysis. Reflections on culture and occupations is about the impact of a collectivist culture on occupations, such as tensions new caregivers experience between keeping clients safe and respecting clients' choices. It also highlights that there will always be individual differences within any cultural group. Challenges of occupational therapy practice in palliative care describe the need for therapists to be comfortable with rest and ethical tensions participants faced with billing for sessions that mainly involved time spent conversing with clients and when clients and caregivers' goals differed. Finally, Moving forward is about the importance of having mentors and the learning needs of occupational therapists in palliative care. CONCLUSION: Occupational therapists experienced in providing services to palliative care clients in Singapore emphasised the collectivist nature of Singaporean Chinese families and contributed more information to its possible impact on occupations and occupational therapy practice and made suggestions for future practice.
